A survey was recently taken of 153 patients in an intensive coronary care unit (CCU) of a large hospital in the Minneapolis - St. Paul area. Its purpose was to determine the quality, type, and frequency of certain breathing patterns found among heart attack patients. Patients were divided into two broad categories as follows:
